Altar Circles is an invite-only space for prayer accountability — small groups walking together through the daily rhythm of Scripture and reflection. These guidelines exist to keep that space safe, encouraging, and honest.
By posting any content in a Circle, you agree to these guidelines and to the Community Content Standards in our Terms of Service.
Use the reactions — Praying, Amen, Encouraged, Keep Going — to speak life over your circle. Don't shame others for their pace or struggles. Don't post for appearances; post to be known.
No sexual content or nudity. No hate speech, harassment, threats, or graphic violence. No spam, off-topic promotion, or chain messages. No content that glorifies self-harm or suicide.
Don't share other people's identifying details without consent. Don't screenshot other Circles or other apps' private conversations. Don't impersonate anyone — pastors, public figures, or other members.
Quote Scripture honestly and in context. Disagree charitably and stay rooted in the text rather than personal grievance. Altar is not a venue for theological combat; it's a venue for accountability and encouragement.
You can report a check-in, block another member, leave a Circle, or delete your own check-in at any time. Two distinct reports auto-hide a check-in from the whole Circle pending review. Blocking a member hides their check-ins, reactions, and profile from you in every shared Circle. The other person isn't notified that you blocked them.
If you see something that crosses a line, please use the report tool — it's the fastest way to protect the Circle.
Altar may remove content, hide check-ins, suspend accounts, terminate accounts, and refuse service to anyone who violates these guidelines or our Terms of Service. We have a no-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behavior.
If you believe a moderation action against you was a mistake, email thealtarapp@gmail.com.
Altar is a tool for spiritual discipline, not a crisis service. If you or someone in your Circle is in immediate danger, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line in your country. The report tool is not a substitute for emergency help.
These guidelines may evolve as Altar Circles grows. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent version. Material changes will require you to re-accept the guidelines before posting again.
